Forbidden City
Upon your arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, your dedicated tour guide, holding a sign with your name, will meet you for your Beijing Layover Tour. After a comfortable drive into Beijing city, you will begin your visit to the Forbidden City. You’ll walk straight into the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace of 24 Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) emperors. Spanning 72 hectares (180 acres), this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest ancient palace complex in the world. The tour of the Forbidden City takes about 2 hours.
Temple of Heaven
A visit to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing is a journey into China’s rich spiritual and architectural history. Located in southern Beijing, this UNESCO World Heritage site was once a sacred place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties held annual ceremonies to pray for a good harvest. The sprawling complex features several stunning structures, including the iconic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a circular wooden building with intricate details and a soaring blue roof. As you explore the vast park surrounding the temple, you’ll also encounter beautiful gardens, ancient cypress trees, and locals practicing tai chi or playing traditional games. The Temple of Heaven offers a peaceful retreat within the bustling city and provides a glimpse into China’s imperial past and deep-rooted cultural traditions. Afterward, you’ll be transferred back to the airport for your departure.
