Itinerary Quick Look

We’re happy to tailor this private tour of Zhangjiajie to match your interests. Please note that the planned attractions may vary depending on the weather conditions on your tour day.

Your tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby as long as the hotel is located within Yongding District or Wulingyuan District. If your hotel is outside these areas, or if you need to be picked up at the train station or airport, the guide can still meet you up, but there will be an additional charge.

Day 1: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

At 9 a.m., your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, home to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where you’ll explore its two most iconic and popular attractions.

**Tianzi Mountain**

Take a cable car up to Tianzi Mountain, where you'll be greeted by vast expanses of striking, jagged peaks rising dramatically from the landscape. As you walk along the paths, spectacular views reveal themselves from different angles, offering breathtaking perspectives at every turn.

**Yuanjiajie**

In the afternoon, take a public shuttle bus to the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, famously known as the inspiration for Avatar's Hallelujah Mountain. Due to its renowned scenery, it’s one of the most visited areas in the park. Spend about an hour walking the scenic trails before taking the shuttle bus to the cable car for a descent down the mountain.

**BaiLong Elevator**

Another option for descending the mountain is the Bailong Elevator, a glass elevator built into the side of a cliff and renowned as the world’s highest of its kind. The ride takes only 2 minutes, but during peak times, the wait can extend to one or two hours. If you’re interested in taking the elevator, let your guide know in advance, so arrangements can be made to help you avoid the long queues.

In rainy or poor weather conditions, the beautiful views at Tianzi Mountain and Yuanjiajie may not be visible. Instead, you can choose to visit the Ten-mile Gallery or Golden Whip Stream, or even both. These two locations offer scenic views even in rainy or foggy weather.

Day 2: Tianmen Mountain-Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge

**Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park**

Our guide will meet you at your hotel and drive you to Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie’s highest peak at 1,518 meters, for a 5-6 hour visit. You’ll walk along the thrilling cliffside Guigu Plank Road and the glass walkway, where you can look down to the canyon floor and take in the stunning mountain scenery. Enjoy hiking through the lush forest, often described as a 'garden in the sky,' and marvel at the world’s largest natural cave, Tianmen Cave. The cable car ride up also offers breathtaking views.

After visiting Tianmen Mountain, we’ll stop for lunch (at your own expense) before heading to the Glass Bridge, about an 80-minute drive away.

**Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge**

The glass bridge at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is the world’s longest and highest glass-bottom bridge, spanning two cliffs with a length of 430 meters (1,410 feet) and a width of 6 meters (20 feet), and hovering over a 300-meter (984-foot) drop. This architectural marvel, designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, features a fully transparent glass floor, offering a thrilling experience as you look down at the breathtaking canyon below. Standing in the middle of the bridge, you’ll feel as if you’re floating above the clouds, reaching out to touch the sky—an unforgettable and exhilarating adventure!
