Day 1 - Tiananmen Square-Forbidden City-Jingshan Park-Summer Palace

After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel by an air-conditioned vehicle and begin your exploration of the historical landmarks of Beijing with a brief visit to Tiananmen Square, the largest city plaza in the world. Here, you’ll see Tiananmen Gate, where Chairman Mao announced the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. This iconic site is rich in political and historical significance.

Next, step into one of the world’s five most important palaces—the Forbidden City (also known as the Palace Museum). This UNESCO World Heritage Site is an enormous palace complex with over 9,000 rooms, where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties once lived. As you walk through the various gates and halls, you’ll marvel at the magnificent, well-preserved buildings adorned with yellow glazed tile roofs, white marble bases, and splendid colorful paintings that showcase the grandeur of ancient Chinese architecture.

After exploring the Forbidden City, enjoy a short visit to Jingshan Park, a former imperial garden. Here, you can capture stunning photographs of a watchtower of the Forbidden City and take in a panoramic view of the entire palace complex from the top of the hill.

In the afternoon, take a scenic 40-minute drive to the outskirts of Beijing to the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Summer Palace offers a serene escape from the city with its ancient pavilions, royal mansions, temples, bridges, and the famous Long Corridor. Don't miss the chance to admire the vast Kunming Lake, dotted with lotus flowers, and the intricately painted ceilings of the Long Corridor, which depict various historical and mythological scenes.

Day 2 - Temple of Heaven-Mutianyu Great Wall-Bird's Nest-Water Cube

After breakfast, head to the Temple of Heaven, an iconic imperial site where ancient emperors would pray for a good harvest. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Temple of Heaven showcases traditional Chinese architecture and symbolism. Today, it’s not only a historical site but also a bustling area where locals participate in traditional activities like Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying, and water calligraphy, offering a glimpse into local life in Beijing.

Afterward, leave the city behind and embark on a scenic 70km (about 1.5-hour) drive to witness one of the Seven Wonders of the World—the Great Wall of China. You’ll visit the Mutianyu section, a less-crowded, well-preserved stretch of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty. This section is known for its beautiful landscapes and well-maintained condition, making it ideal for those who want to avoid the crowds at Badaling.

You’ll take a cable car up to the Wall and hike along the most scenic and interesting part of Mutianyu, exploring its ancient watchtowers and enjoying panoramic views of the Great Wall snaking across the mountains. It’s a fantastic spot for capturing brag-worthy photos of the Wall and its breathtaking surroundings. After your hike, descend the Wall via cable car or toboggan. (Note: If you’re feeling energetic, you can hike up or down the Wall, which takes about 40 minutes. Let your travel consultant know your preferences.)

On your return to Beijing City, make a quick stop at the Beijing Olympic Village, home to the world-famous Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) and Water Cube (National Aquatics Center), two architectural marvels from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. You’ll have the chance to view these landmarks from the outside.

Finally, you’ll be escorted back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
